Pfeiffer Volleyball Sweeps a Pair of Matches in Season Finale
Misenheimer, N.C. (Nov. 2, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team swept a pair of matches in the season finale at Merner Gym on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons took a 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, 29-27) win over visiting Mary Baldwin in the first match. Sophomore hitter Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) once again led the Pfeiffer attack, finishing with 15 kills and a .233 hitting percentage on the match. She also added 10 digs. Teammate Arryawn Ward (Mt. Airy, N.C.) had a career-best 10 kills for the Falcons while senior Bri Weber (Jesup, Iowa) finished with nine.
Setter Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) added 33 assists and also had 10 digs for Pfeiffer, while freshman Kaitlyn Kilts (Madison, N.C.) had 19 digs. Senior Gabby June (Jonesboro, Ga.) also had 10 digs. Fellow senior Taylor Jerome (Newark, Cal.) had a team-high four block assists in the win.
Pfeiffer also prevailed in their second match of the afternoon, also winning by 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-21) score.
Against the Bishops, Clouse again led the way offensively, finishing with 11 kills and paced the Falcons defensively with 21 digs.
Beacham had 24 assists and 13 digs in the win while Weber had eight kills.
The Saturday sweep completes the season for the Falcons with a 14-14 overall record, which is the best finish for the program since 2009 when Pfeiffer finished with 21-12 overall record.
