Pfeiffer Volleyball Improves to 7-2 With Pair of Home Wins

Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 14, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team ran their early season record to 7-2 after taking a pair of home wins over Brevard and Toccoa Falls in Merner Gym on Saturday.

The Falcons took on fellow USA South member Brevard in a nonconference affair in the first match.  Pfeiffer had little trouble, taking the match by a 3-0 (25-18, 25-9, 25-21).

Sophomore outside hitter Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) continued her stellar play, as she hit for 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .255 in the match.  Freshman teammate Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) also finished in double-digits as she rapped out 10 kills on 12 attacks, good for a .833 percentage.

As a team, Pfeiffer hit .275 for the match and limited Brevard to just .106.

Sophomore setter Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) continues to play well, delivering 25 assists while Emma Gray Beacham (Lauringburg, N.C.) dishing eight.  Beacham also finished with a team-high 19 digs.

In the second match of the afternoon, the Falcons stormed back from being down 0-2 to take a
3-2 (20-25, 25-27, 25-17, 27-25, 15-2) win over Toccoa Falls College.

After the Eagles took the first two games, the Falcons took game three by a 25-17 score.  In game four, Pfeiffer fought off the potential match-clinching point from TFC, eventually taking the 27-25 win to force the deciding set.

In the fifth set, Pfeiffer quickly jumped ahead 8-2 and never looked back, reeling off seven straight points to take the 15-2 match-clinching win.

Clouse once again led the way with 17 kills and a team-high 23 digs.  Kaitlyn Kilts (Madison, N.C.) also had 23 digs for Pfeiffer.  Reagan Wyatt managed 12 kills while Angelina Fardella had 31 kills and an impressive eight aces in the win.

The pair of wins improve the Falcons to 7-2 overall while Brevard's two losses drops them to 0-9.  Toccoa Falls now sports an 8-2 record following their split.

Pfeiffer will return to play on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 7:00 p.m. when they take on
Division II Shaw University in Merner Gym.
