Pfeiffer Women's Swimming Opens 2020 With 98-59 Win Over Guilford

Misenheimer, N.C. (Jan. 11, 2020) – The Pfeiffer Falcon women's swim team combined to win seven of nine events in their 2020 debut, winning 98-59 against in-state foe Guilford College at home in the Merner Natatorium, on Saturday afternoon. 

Senior Tiffany Bartholomew (Raleigh, N.C.) led the way with a pair of individual victories in the 100-yard Individual Medley and the 100-yard Freestyle, while contributing the lead-off swim in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay.  Teammates Samira Wolf (Pocasset, Mass.) (50-yard Butterfly), Nyah Hines (Randallstown, Md.) (100-yard Backstroke) and Mary Rhyne (Lexington, N.C.) (100-yard Breaststroke) also contributed to the win tally.

As a team, the Falcons set nine lifetime best swims, shaving a combined 30.87 seconds off their previous bests. 

Rhyne contributed three swims (50-yard Breaststroke relay split, 100-yard Breaststroke & 100-yard Individual Medley), while Wolf (50-yard Butterfly & 200-yard Free), Kayleigh Hunt (Denton, N.C.) (100-yard IM), Bartholomew (100-yard IM), Kara Robertson (Cookeville, Tenn.) (100-yard Backstroke) and Haley Zoltoski (Raleigh, N.C.) (200 Free) contributed to the impressive total.

The Falcons are back in action next week in a double-dual meet at Converse.  Pfeiffer will take on the host Valkyries and in-state foe UNC Pembroke at 1:00 p.m. in Spartanburg, S.C.
