Pfeiffer Swimming Begins 2019-20 Season With Home Meet
Misenheimer, N.C. (Nov. 3, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University swimming team began their 2019-20 season by posting several personal best performances in a dual meet between Sweet Briar College and UNC Pembroke at the Merner Gym Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Pfeiffer split the afternoon, downing Sweet Briar 126-38 and falling to UNC Pembroke by a 127-52 score.
Tiffany Bartholomew (Raleigh, N.C.) started her senior season by finishing her race in the 200-yard individual medley in a school record time of 2:29.00, breaking the old record of 2:31.01. Bartholomew also won the 100-yard Freestyle with a personal best of time of 56.83.
Junior Mary Rhyne (Lexington, N.C.) and senior Kayleigh Hunt (Denton, N.C.) also set personal bests in the 200-yard individual medley. Rhyne posted a time of 2:38.89, besting her previous time by almost six seconds and Hunt with a time of 3:08.99, a best by over two seconds.
Junior Haley Zoltoski (Raleigh, N.C.) swam personal bests in the 200-yard individual medley & 100-yard Breaststroke.
Rookies Nyah Hines (Randallstown, Md.), Simone Norton-Abad (Mesa, Ariz.) and Kara Robertson (Cookeville, Tenn.) all swam well, improving on their times from last week's inter-squad pentathlon.
The Falcons will next be in action on Nov. 9 with a 1:00 p.m. meet at Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C.
