Pfeiffer Women's Soccer Blows Out Wesleyan 6-0 in Home Opener
Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 9, 2018) – The Pfeiffer University women's soccer team opened their home schedule in style with a 6-0 blowout of Wesleyan College on Sunday afternoon at Lefko Field.
The Falcons wasted little time, with Mackenzie Pruitt (Havelock, N.C.) burying a shot into the back of the net after a feed from Meredith Manson (Auburndale, Fla.) in the ninth minute to go up 1-0. Less than three minutes later, Cayci Eaton (Harrisburg, N.C.) scored unassisted to make it 2-0.
Pruitt got her second goal of the match at the 12:18 mark after a pass from
Dayanna Riera (Charlotte, N.C.) made it 3-0
The next two Falcon goals were courtesy of Madeline Capel (Harrisburg, N.C.), with the first coming in the 29th minute on an assists from Sophia Griffin (Durham, N.C.) and the latter coming in the 42nd minute after a setup from Pruitt.
The Falcons final tally of the afternoon came after Kelsy Esquivel (Charlotte, N.C.) fired a shot past the Wesleyan keeper after a pass provided by Allison Gonzalez (Charlotte, N.C.).
All told, the Falcons outshot the Wolves 28-5 and had seven corner kicks to the Wolves' two.
Pfeiffer's Kaley Hyatt (St. Cloud, Fla.) got the win in goal, improving the Falcon's to 3-1 on the season.
Pfeiffer will hit the road for their next match on Sept. 12, traveling to Ferrum for a 6:00 p.m. match with the Panthers.
