DUE WEST, S.C. - Freshman Hannah Hill put home the match's only goal 99 seconds into overtime as Pfeiffer University knocked off host Erskine 1-0 in Conference Carolinas women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Falcons, still in contention for the eastern division title, improve to 7-8-1 overall, 6-3-1 in league play after the victory. The loss drops the Flying Fleet to 6-8, 5-6.
Pfeiffer held a 12-8 shots advantage through regulation firing two in the extra session. Of the 14 total, exactly half were on goal while Erskine put five on cage. Each team had several scoring opportunities in the normal 90 minutes with neither being able to convert.
In overtime, Hill took the first shot 1:16 into the third period as a defensive save by the Fleet's Bailey Miller kept the game alive. Just 23 seconds later, Hill kicked in the game winner for her fourth of the season.
Jamie Alcala made five saves in goal for the Lady Falcons during the win while Katie Lyle also stopped five for Erskine.
