Rocky Mount, N.C. (Feb. 1, 2020) – North Carolina Wesleyan used a 19-6 run to rally past Pfeiffer University 70-66 in a USA South women's basketball game on Saturday afternoon.

Pfeiffer fell behind 20-13 after the first quarter but stormed back to tie the game at 44-44 with 4:40 left before halftime when Brina Bentley (Chester, Va.) drove through the lane for a layup while getting fouled. Her free throw was good, tying the game.

Three Makalla Burnette (Burlington, N.C.) free throws, a three-pointer from Shalonda Wilkins (Chesterfield, Va.) and another Bentley basket gave the Falcons the 55-46 lead with 38 seconds in the third quarter but NCWC would trim the Falcon lead to 57-51 heading into the fourth.

Pfeiffer's lead would grow to 60-51 after a Kortni Pinion (Stanfield, N.C.) three-pointer just one minute into the fourth quarter, but the Bishops would claw back to tie the game at 62-62 with a three-pointer at 5:13.

An A'Mya McClain (Hickory, N.C.) basket at 2:16 would give Pfeiffer the 65-64 lead, but NCWC would go on a 6-1 spurt to end the game, taking the 70-66 win.

Wilkins led all Pfeiffer scorers with 19 points on a 6-of-15 shooting effort that saw her drain five from distance.  Bentley scored 17 and six rebounds while Pinion also had six boards while scoring 13.  McClain finished the game with 10 points to round out the Falcon double-figure scorers.
