Emory & Henry Downs Pfeiffer Women's Basketball, 60-41
Emory, Va. (Nov. 16, 2019) – Emory & Henry College used a 12-2 advantage in the second quarter to break open a close game and never looked back in a 60-41 women's basketball win over Pfeiffer University on Saturday evening at the King Center in Emory, Va.
After trailing 14-6 after the first quarter, the Falcons went cold, going just 1-of-17 from the field while the Wasps built a 26-10 lead at the half.
The EHC lead would balloon to 44-21 by the end of the third quarter and would lead by as many as 28 points in the fourth quarter in the win.
As a team, Pfeiffer shot 27.6% (16-of-58) from the floor and 20% (4-of-20) from long range. Junior Brina Bentley (Chester, Va.) scored a team-high 10 points in her home state while A'Mya McClain (Hickory, N.C.) registered eight points and four rebounds. Kortni Pinion (Stanfield, N.C.) and Regan Allen (Olin, N.C.) each had five rebounds each with Pinion scoring seven points and Allen contributing two on the night.
EHC's Peyton Williams secured a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds while Elizabeth Jones led all scorers with 14 points, improving the Wasps to 3-1 on the season.
Pfeiffer falls to 1-3 on the season with the loss. The Falcons will return to play on Tuesday, Nov. 19 with a 7:00 p.m. road game at Southern Virginia.
