MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (8-19) went ice cold in a Conference Carolinas Tournament Quarterfinal matchup at Mount Olive (19-10) as they fell by a final score of 55-25 on Monday night. The loss ends the Falcons season and advances Mount Olive to the Semifinals.
Pfeiffer shot just 10-for-55 (18.2 percent) on the night and went 2-for-15 (13.3 percent) from long range. The Falcons even struggled at the charity stripe, converting just 3-for-10 from the line. Meg Pritchard was the lone Falcon to score in double digits as the junior finished with 11 points and made both of Pfeiffer's three pointers on the night.
Mount Olive's Arieal Johnson nearly outscored the Falcons team on the night as the center finished with 22 points and 18 boards, while adding two blocked shots. Kiara Jones finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds as both bigs tallied a double-double.
The Trojans dominated the glass on the night, grabbing 64 boards to just 31 for the Falcons. The inside advantage for Mount Olive saw the Trojans hold a 46-10 advantage in points in the paint
Lauren Janka finished the game with two blocked shots and ends the season with 33 rejections, which is good for seventh all-time. Safia Sheikh ends the campaign with 81 made three pointers which ranks her sixth in Pfeiffer history.
The Falcons close out the 2015-16 season on a five game losing streak. However, the Falcons did manage to increase their win total for the third consecutive year.
