CENTRAL, S.C. – After being outscored by 11 points in the second quarter the Pfeiffer Falcons (8-18, 7-15 CC) fell to the Southern Wesleyan Warriors (4-23,1-20 CC) by the score of 77-67. For the second straight game, Brianna Jones was among the leaders for Pfeiffer in scoring with 17 points while Shontai Totten came off the bench to put in 17.
After the Falcons jumped out to an early 12-7 lead, the Warriors took control of the final minutes of the first quarter to go on a 6-0 run to end the first 10 minutes of play down 12-11.
The Warriors continued to rally in the following quarter. Jones hit the first shot of the second but Southern Wesleyan went on multiple rallies of; 4-0, 12-0, 5-0 before the Falcons were able to stop momentum.
In third quarter and in between two Chelsie Water's jump shots at 3:33, Totten hit her first three pointer of the game. After another Totten field goal and two point shot, Ariana Tillman hit for four straight points to cut the lead to a seven point lead, 52-45.
In the fourth, Lauren Janka and Jones continued to cut into the Pfeiffer deficit to bring the lead closer, 54-50. Noelle Van Zadelhoff and Waters answered the Falcon rally with 11 straight points.
With 4:03 remaining in the game, Totten hit 2-of-3 three pointers of the quater that were mixed in between made shots by Janka and Jones. The Falcons cut the lead to 67-66, but were unable to continue the rally past the Warriors as the Southern Wesleyan's Water, Aneysa Williams and Shelby Gilbert put Pfeiffer away at the free throw line.
