Falcons Fall to Crusaders In Final Regular Season Home Game

MISENHEIMER, N.C. – On senior night, the Pfeiffer Falcons (8-17, 7-14 CC) fell to Belmont Abbey (8-19, 7-14 CC) by the score of 67-56, on Tuesday night. Brianna Jones led the Falcons in scoring with 19 points as the sophomore guard 9-for-11 from the field.

The Crusaders got off to a commanding ten point after one quarter of play as they held the Falcons to four points.

Belmont Abbey shot 51 percent from the field and 50 percent beyond the three point arc.  Gabrielle Behtel paced the Crusaders with a game-high 22 points as she went 9-of-14 from the field.

The Falcons started the second half down 27-25 but three consecutive shots made by Bethel and Larissa Bishop pushed the lead back seven points in a minute and half span.

With 7:10 left in third, the Falcons clawed their way back with a 6-0 run by made shots by Jones and Meg Pritchard that got Pfeiffer back to 34-32.

At the 4:16 mark in the fourth quarter, Pritchard knocked down two free throws to cut the Crusader lead to two, 56-54, and the closest Pfeiffer would be able to come close the rest of the way. 

Belmont Abbey's defense held Pfeiffer without a field goal down the stretch en route to the 67-56 victory.

Pritchard ended the evening with 15 points.

Pfeiffer honored the two lone seniors; Alyssa Harvell and Jordan Bishop for the contributions to the Falcon program.

Pfeiffer returns to action on Friday, February 26,traveling to Southern Wesleyan in the final game of the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
