MISENHEIMER, NC- The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (5-9, 4-6 CC) struggled offensively in a 56-47 loss to North Greenville (5-11, 3-6 CC) on Monday night. The Falcons lost despite a great performance by Ariana Tillman, who recorded a double-double with 14 points, a career-high 13 boards, two steals and one assist on the night.
The Crusaders negated a one point first quarter deficit, by scoring the first eight points of the second period, taking an 18-11 lead. North Greenville outscored Pfeiffer 19-9 in the second quarter, taking a 29-20 halftime advantage.
North Greenville started the second half on an 11-4 run taking a 40-24 lead. Shontai Totten cut into the lead knocking down a 3-pointer with 48 seconds left in the period. With the Falcons trailing 50-35 with 7:13 left in the game, Totten ignited an 11-2 run, scoring seven points, cutting the lead to 45-52. Carter Cameron knocked down a three pointer for NGU putting the game out of reach.
Carter paced the Crusaders scoring 15 points, on 5-of-10 shooting. Ty Broadwater scored eight points, with four rejections and bringing down a team-high eight rebounds for North Greenville.
The Falcons forced 18 turnovers, scoring 15 points off of them. Pfeiffer held a slight rebounding advantage recording 43 compared to 41 for the Crusaders.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. match-up at Lees-McRae.
