MISENHEIMER, NC- The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (3-6, 2-3 CC) struggled offensively as they fell to Emanuel (7-4, 3-2) 53-38 on Friday afternoon. Shontai Totten paced the Falcons coming off the bench to score a team-high 11 points and record four steals for Pfeiffer.
The Falcons played suburb team defense to start the contest holding the Lions to a season-low two points in first period, taking a 6-2 advantage into the second. Emmanuel took the lead in the second quarter scoring 17 points and holding Pfeiffer to only eight taking a 19-14 advantage. The Falcons ended the first half on a high note when Grayson Harris took a pass from Brianna Jones, and knocking down a jumper has the stanza expired.
Meg Pritchard started the second half scoring five quick points tying the contest 19-19. The Lions answered back scoring 12 of the next 14 points, taking a 33-21 lead en route to their third conference win of the season.
Elise Coberly had a dominant performance for the Lions recording a double-double with a game-high 17 rebounds and scoring 11 points. Elise Coberly added 11 points and three boards for Emmanuel.
Jones scored 10 points, going 3-for-4 from the line. Jonaisha Watson recoded a contest-high 3 blocks, grabbed five rebounds and dished out two assists for the Falcons.
Pfeiffer's stingy defense forced 21 turnovers and held the Lions to 36% shooting from the floor.
The Falcons return to action tomorrow night with a 5:30 p.m. contest against Erskine.
