Falcons Fall In Second Day of Rollins Holiday Tournament

WINTER PARK, FL.-  In the second day of the Rollins Holiday Tournament, the Pfeiffer women's basketball team (1-6) fell against the host Tars (5-5) 64-43 on Tuesday afternoon. The Falcons were paced offensively by Safia Sheikh, who scored a team-high nine points, knocking down three from long range.

Pfeiffer struggled offensively in the first period of play recording only eight points as the Falcons fell behind 18-8 at the end of one. The Falcons never were able to recover getting outscored in in the remaining three quarters.

Julia Ingler led Rollins scoring a game-high 14 points and shot 50% from the floor. Marie Gilbert scored nine points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out two assists on the night, and Keevana Edwards also chipped in with nine points.

The Falcons defense held the Tars to 37.7% shooting from the floor, and scored seven points of Rollins turnovers. The Falcons shot free throws at a 75% clip (9-12) for the game.

Shontai Totten scored eight points off the bench for the Falcons, along with grabbing four rebounds. Meg Pritchard chipped in scoring seven points, and each Brianna Jones and Kayla Whitworth added five points for Pfeiffer.

The Falcons return to action on Thursday evening for a 5:30 p.m. contest against Montreat.
