Falcons Struggle Offensively In 44-32 Loss to PBA

WINTER PARK, FL- The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (1-5) dropped a low scoring affair against Palm Beach Atlantic (3-6) 44-32 on Monday night. The Falcons lost despite holding the Sailfish to 23% shooting from the floor and forcing 19 turnovers. Brianna Jones paced Pfeiffer scoring a team-high 13 points and dishing out two assists on the evening.

PBA opened the contest scoring 11 of the first 14 points, The Falcons ended the quarter scoring back-to-back baskets making the score 11-7. The Sailfish began the second period scoring seven of the first nine  points, to push their lead to 18-9. The Falcon defense then stepped up, holding PBA scoreless the final 3:31 of the first half. The Sailfish took a 19-12 lead into the locker room.

With Pfeiffer trailing 24-17 in the third quarter, Jones scored four consecutive points igniting a 5-2 run putting the Falcons within three points of Palm Beach Atlantic. The Falcons got within three points three other times, however, The Sailfish iced the game with a 10-0 run midway through the fourth quarter.

PBA was 89% from the charity stripe compared to only 54% for Pfeiffer. Ayanna Holmes lead the Sailfish with a game-high 15 points, she was 11-of-12 from the free throw line, recorded 15 boards and dished out two assists. Palm Beach Atlantic held an advantage on the glass outrebounding Pfeiffer 51-to-30.

Pfeiffer's bench outscored the Sailfish 22 to 11, Kayla Whitworth pulled down four boards and scored four points off the bench. Grayson Harris had a game-high three rejections on the night.

The Falcons return to action tomorrow afternoon against Rollins. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
