Bristol, TN- The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (0-3, 0-2 CC) fell to King (2-3, 1-0 CC) on Wednesday evening, by a score of 78-53. Safia Sheikh paced the Falcons scoring 14 points, on 4-for-6 shooting, grabbing three boards and dishing out three assists. Meg Pritchard added a great all-around performance scoring 12 points, pulling down five rebounds, recording three steals and adding two helpers for the game.
Sheikh hit back-to-back threes to start the contest, giving the Falcons a 6-0 lead. However, the Tornados ended the first quarter on a 14-2 run, taking a 24-15 advantage. Pfeiffer started the second period on a 5-0 run to pull within four points of King. Again, King answered with a 10-2 run taking a 36-28 lead en route to their first conference victory of the season.
Pfeiffer didn't seem to have an answer for Jalan Harper, who scored a game-high 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting, including perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. Madison Davis scored 14 points off the bench and grabbed six boards for the Tornados.
The Falcons turned king over 16 times, leading to eight points and held a 16 to 12 advantage in second chance points.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Saturday for a Conference Carolinas clash with Lees-McRae. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
