MISENHEIMER, NC- The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (5-12, 4-9 CC) dropped a nail biter 55-53 to Emmanuel (12-5 8-5 CC) as Carter Williams' game tying floater just missed as time expired. Brianna Jones had a career high 14 points on 4-7 shooting and was a perfect 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Williams chipped in with 10 points and Meg Pritchard scored six points and added five assists.
Elise Coberly led the Lions notching a double-double with 17 points and 12 boards. Coberly shot 3-for-5 from deep and dished out two assists. Skye Rodgers contributed with nine points on 4-of-9 shooting.
The Lions started the game on a 15-2 run. However, the Falcons answered with an 8-0 run to tie the game at 18. Emmanuel started the second half with a 7-0 run and would run the lead up to 15 points. The Falcons surged back scoring 15 of the last 19 points and had a chance to tie the game as the horn sounded.
Pfeiffer was able to turn the Lions over 23 times and held the Lions to 36.7 percent shooting in the second half. The Falcons were out rebounded 45-23 by Emmanuel.
Pfeiffer looks to end their five game skid when they travel to King on Wednesday, January 23 for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
