DUE WEST, S.C. - The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (3-7, 2-4 CC) came out on the wrong end of a 75-55 decision against Erskine (7-5, 5-1) on Saturday night. Pfeiffer battled and cut the lead to just four points with 13:02 to play but the Flying Fleet ended the game on a 29-13 run to close out the victory.
Meg Pritchard had 18 points and Carter Williams tallied 15 as each player shot 5-for-15 from the field. Carlisha Holivay added 12 points for the Falcons who were held to just 32.1 percent shooting from the field.
Erskine also had three players finish with double digit scoring totals. Ashley Espinosa led the Flying Fleet with 18 points and Kristin Giles had 13 points. Andrienne Bannerman posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Erskine shot 41.3 percent from the floor and forced Pfeiffer into 25 turnovers. The Flying Fleet converted those turnovers into 30 points on the offensive end. Erskine was also efficient from the charity stripe, going 18-for-21 for an 85.7 percentage.
Pritchard added eight rebounds for the Falcons and Williams had six boards and two assists.
Erskine took a 37-24 lead into the half but Pfeiffer closed the gap thanks to an 18-9 run to start the second half. Holivay's jumper made the score 46-42 but the Falcons were unable to pull any closer down the stretch.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Wednesday at 5:30 with a home game against Converse.
