SALISBURY, N.C. - Carter Williams scored 16 of her team's 46 points and connected on four three pointers but the Pfeiffer women's basketball team (2-2) couldn't overcome an early deficit at Catawba (4-2) and fell by a final score of 63-46. Meg Pritchard finished the contest with nine points and seven rebounds as her streak of consecutive double-doubles ended at three.
The Lady Indians started the contest on a 15-0 run over the game's first 4:16 and never looked back. Catawba had the lead to as much as 22 in the first half and shot 44 percent in the first 20 minutes. The Lady Indians stifling defense held Pfeiffer below 20 percent shooting and forced nine Falcon turnovers to take a 36-19 lead into the break. Williams and Pritchard each had six in the half for Pfeiffer.
Pfeiffer continued to battle in the second half and used a 10-0 run late to close the gap. However, the Falcons were unable to get within striking distance of the hosts in the closing moments as the Lady Indians ended their two game losing streak.
Terri Rogers led Catawba with 13 points and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line. Rogers added eight rebounds and two assists in just 15 minutes of action. Bri Johnson had 10 points and two other Lady Indians added eight.
Brittney Washington connected on two triples as the senior ended the night with six points and four rebounds.
Catawba dominated the glass, outrebounding the Falcons 53-33 on the evening.
The Falcons return to action on Tuesday evening as they host North Greenville at 5:30 p.m. in Conference Carolinas action. Pfeiffer will play three of their next four games inside Merner Gymnasium heading into the Christmas break.
