Salem, Va. – The Pfeiffer University men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Roanoke College for the Finn Pincus Invitational over the weekend.
On Friday night, the Falcon's men's 4x200 relay team of Tevin Colson, Dontavius Monroe, Keyshawn Campbell and Kenan Waltower set a new school record by running a time of 1:34.43. That time was good for a second-place finish behind the meet host Roanoke.
On Saturday, the men's team saw strong performances from freshman Tasker Brown. Brown continues to have a stellar first year with his third-consecutive top-ten finish in the 400m dash. Brown ran a personal best 52.59, which landed him an eighth-place finish. Brown came back later in the day to lead all Falcon runners in the 200m dash with another personal best time of 23.99.
Junior Tevin Colson was on Brown's heels again in the 400m dash turning in a personal best time of 53.12 which was good for 13th place.
Keyshawn Campbell continued to show improvement coming back from injury. In his second race of the season, Campbell ran 7.26 in the preliminary round of the 60m dash to advance to the semifinals. Campbell's time narrowly missed qualifying for the Indoor ECAC Championships by .01 seconds.
On the women's side, strong performance was seen by the throwers. Junior Tonishea Ford had a stellar day in the weight throw with a toss of 12.53m. The throw was nearly a two-meter improvement from her previous best. Freshman Avia Starnes improved her personal best in the shot put by one meter by throwing for 9.51m.
