Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Wins at Greensboro, 13-10

Greensboro,  N.C. The Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team used a big third quarter to surge ahead of Greensboro College and hung on for 13-10 win in a USA South game.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
John Allen led all Falcon scorers with four goals on six shots while Jacob Leone and Jared Nelson netted three goals each in the win.  Nelson also added a pair of assists in the win while Leone had one. Chris Alcorn managed a goal and an assist in the win, as did Luke Cox and Spencer Stokes.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Allen opened the scoring in the first quarter with a man-up opportunity after receiving a pass from Nelson at the 14:07 mark, giving Pfeiffer the 1-0 lead.  Greensboro got an unassisted goal at 6:06 to tie it at 1-1, but Spencer Stokes responded with an unassisted goal of his own at 5:41, putting Pfeiffer back on top 2-1.  Greensboro scored at 5:23 to tie it at 2-2.  Luke Cod added a goal just before the end of the quarter to put Pfeiffer up 3-2.

In the second quarter Greensboro held Pfeiffer scoreless and jumped ahead on a pair of goals late in the quarter.

In the third quarter, Pfeiffer notched three early goals, with Leone scoring an unassisted goal at 14:46 and Allen adding a man-up goal at 14:26.  Leone scored again at 13:42 to put Pfeiffer up 6-5.

Leone scored again at 8:06 as did Allen at 2:01.  Chris Alcorn scored 24 seconds before the end of the quarter to put the Falcons up 9-7 heading to the final quarter.

In the fourth, Greensboro scored at 12:05 to draw to 9-8, but three straight Falcon goals, two from Nelson and one from Allen put Pfeiffer ahead 12-8.  Greensboro drew to 12-9, but Nelson scored with 2:22 left to push the lead to 13.9.  Greensboro then added a goal with 32 seconds remaining to provide the 13-10 final
