Pfeiffer Men Falls at William Peace, 120-108
Raleigh, N.C. (Feb. 6, 2019) – The visiting Pfeiffer University men's basketball team connected for 20 three-pointers, but it was not enough, as William Peace took a 120-108 win in USA South play at the Hermann Athletic Center in Raleigh, N.C. on Wednesday evening.
The home standing Pacers shot a blistering 56.4% from the field (23-of-39) and was 12-of-19 from long range in the first half, taking a 69-46 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, William Peace would gain their largest lead, 32 points, when Tyson Sellers canned a three-pointer at the 1327 mark, giving the Pacers the 95-63 lead.
Pfeiffer would close the gap to 102-85 with 4:25 to play, but WPU quickly boosted their lead to 113-93 at the 1:43 mark.
Pfeiffer was able to cut into the lead in the waning seconds of the game, eventually falling 120-108.
Senior Kyle Riddley (Charlotte, N.C.) posted a double-double for the Falcons, scoring a team-high 28 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Josiah Avington (Fredericksburg, Va.) finished with 18 points, Gabe Miller (Norfolk, Va.) had 15 and Tyjarek Simmons (Roanoke Rapids, N.C.) had 13 in the loss. Craig Sabb (Goose Creek, S.C.) also chipped in 10 points for the Falcons.
WPU's Tyson Sellars led all scorers with 36 points, as he hit seven three-pointers on the night, improving WPU to 11-11 overall and 7-7 in USA South play.
Pfeiffer drops to 10-12 with the loss and 5-10 in league play.
