MISENHEIMER, N.C. - In their Conference Carolinas opener, the Pfeiffer men's basketball team (1-1, 0-1 CC) fell at home to Mount Olive (3-0, 1-0) by a final score of 96-58 on Wednesday evening. Five different players recorded double-digit scoring for the Trojans who were the picked to win the regular season title in the preseason coaches' poll.
Kendall Hargrove finished with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and Dontrell Brite had 17 points and eight assists for the Trojans.
Pfeiffer was led by AJ Clark who had 12 points and Keith Jumper who finished with 11 points.
The Trojans came out firing from the opening whistle and never looked back. Mount Olive started the game on a 35-11 run and finished the first half with a 61.8 shooting percentage. Brite finished the first half with 13 points and Hargrove had 11. De'Vonte Jenkins was aggressive on the offensive end for Pfeiffer and finished the first 20 minutes with eight points and three boards.
Pfeiffer was only outscored by five in the second half as they dropped their first game of the season.
For the game, the Falcons went 18-for-23 (78.3 percent) from the free throw line as Jumper went to the line nine times. Pfeiffer grabbed 17 offensive boards on the night, led by five from Silvere Aluko and Clark accounted for half (4) of the team's steals (8) on the evening.
The Falcons return to action on Saturday afternoon as they host Stanly County Night at 4 p.m. inside Merner Gym. Pfeiffer will be competing against Warren Wilson in non-conference action.
