Falcon Baseball Drops 11-3 Decision to Greensboro
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 7, 2020) – The Pfeiffer University baseball team dropped game two of their USA South series with visiting Greensboro College by an 11-3 score on a sunny but cool Saturday afternoon at Joe Ferebee Field in Misenheimer, N.C.

How it Happened
Greensboro got on the board early, plating a run in the top of the first when Michael Garvey, Jr. scored on a passed ball. The inning started poorly for the Falcons as the first Greensboro batter reached on an error.
Greensboro put three more runners across in the second inning to push the lead to 4-0. The big hit of the inning came on a two-RBI single from Chance Bryan that allowed Hunter Curtis and Michael Garvey to score.
The lead grew to 7-0 for Greensboro as three more runs crossed in the fourth. Pfeiffer did manufacture a run in the home half of the fifth to make it 7-1. Freshman Jake Brown lifted a fly ball to center field that allowed Bryan Kowalski to score. Kowalski led the inning off with a single and later stole second and third.
Greensboro catcher Scotty McGuire hit a two-run home run in the sixth to go up 9-1 and another pair came around in the seventh to give The Pride the 11-1 lead.
Pfeiffer did manage a two-RBI pinch hit single from Brett Graham to provide the eventual 11-3 final.
Greensboro's Jared Cenal got the win on the mound, throwing 6.1 inning while allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out six. Pfeiffer's Will Altemueller was tagged with the loss after two innings of work where he allowed four runs on two hits while striking out a pair of Pride batters.
Pfeiffer and Greensboro will close their three-game set on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
