Misenheimer, N.C. -- It was another great day at Joe Ferebee Field on Sunday as the Pfeiffer baseball team (23-7) swept a double-header against N.C. Wesleyan (19-20). The two wins raise the Falcons win streak to 11 games and completed a three game sweep of the Battling Bishops.
Game One: Pfeiffer 17, N.C. Wesleyan 3
Pfeiffer brought the lumber in game one, scoring 17 runs on 13 hits. Senior Derek Perry had a big day at the plate, going 3-4 with a homerun, a double, and 3 RBI's. The Falcons had multiple big innings in game one, including a 7 run 2nd inning. The scoring started in the inning with a bases loaded walk by Bryan Kowalski, and then an RBI single by Perry. Two batters later, Jordan Eckard took one out to left field for a grand slam to make the score 8-0.
Pfeiffer would add 3 more in the 3rd off of a Kowalski sacrifice fly, a Derek Perry solo homer, and a Christian Marciano RBI double. Game Two: Pfeiffer 9, N.C. Wesleyan 4
Game Two saw Pfeiffer score 9 more runs as the offense stayed hot. Although the Falcons got down 3-0 early, the offense helped dig them out of that early hole and Will Altemueller pitched a sold 7 innings to get the win.
