BANNER ELK, N.C. – There isn't a much better time to go on a winning streak than at regular season's end, and that's exactly what the Pfeiffer University women's tennis team (5-12, 3-8 CC) accomplished over the last five days. After defeating King and Converse last week, the Falcons won their third match in a row against Lees-McRae (4-13, 1-10) on Monday afternoon at the LMC Tennis Courts to clinch the final seed in the upcoming Conference Carolinas Tournament.

PFU went up 2-1 after doubles play with wins from Mylene Petitpas / Meggan Amour (6-1) at the top and Olivia Nelms / Madison Hatley (6-2) at the second position. Nelms, a Conference Carolinas Player of the Year Candidate, gave the Falcons a 3-1 lead with a strong 8-1 victory over Caroline Green at No. 1 singles before Mylene Petitpas (8-2) and Meggan Amour (8-3) sealed the deal at No. 2 and 3.

Lees-McRae earned match wins from Rebecca Pierce, Dakota Tittle, and Amanda Chapman, but took the loss, 5-4.

Pfeiffer will square off against No. 1-seeded Limestone in the quarterfinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament on Friday, April 21 at noon.
