Salisbury, NC –
Pfeiffer University's women's tennis team (1-2) dropped a tough loss at the Johnson Tennis Center to a very good opponent in Catawba (7-1) on Thursday afternoon, 8-1. It was the Falcons' most lopsided defeat in over 12 matches, dating back to last March.

Olivia Nelms and Meggan Amour were able to win the No. 1 doubles position vs. Catawba's Erisa Onchi and Sophie Hirsch, 9-7. But the Indians rallied to steal No. 2 and 3, handing losses to Mylene Petitpas/ShaNisha White and Madison Hatley/Brittany Blackburn, 8-5 and 8-0.

Catawba then swept the Falcons in singles competition with all six decisions coming in two sets.

Pfeiffer will have an opportunity to bounce back in two days when it hosts Shaw at the Knapp Tennis Center this Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m.
