SUMTER, S.C. - The Pfeiffer women's tennis team advanced to its second straight Conference Carolinas championship game with 5-0 victories over Converse and Mount Olive in today's semifinals. Weather forced the Conference to play both the quarterfinals and semifinals on the same day but Pfeiffer cruised past both opponents.

In the opener, Pfeiffer posted 8-1 wins in first and third doubles along with an 8-4 win in second doubles to run out to an early 3-0 lead over the Valkyries. Hannah Watson and Mylene Petitpas (6-0, 6-1) posted identical victories in fourth and fifth singles to bring the match to an end.

Later in the afternoon, Pfeiffer breezed past Mount Olive in shut out fashion. The team of Taylor Lindsay and Valeria Mendoza posted an 8-5 win in first singles and the duos of Olivia Nelms/Watson and Petitpas/Noemi Perez Principal each won 8-4. Pfeiffer needed just two wins in singles play and Petitpas and Perez Principal provided them.

The win sets up a rematch of last year's championship as Erskine upset the No. 1 seed Limestone in the semifinals. The title match is set for 1 p.m. tomorrow, however heavy rain is in the forecast. If the match needs to be postponed, it will be played on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
