MISENHEIMER, N.C. - In a one-sided contest, the Pfeiffer women's lacrosse team (9-4, 6-1 CC) cruised to a 15-0 shutout victory over visiting Lees-McRae (7-5, 3-2) on Thursday afternoon. The win was Pfeiffer's second shutout of the season and fifth time holding an opponent to fewer than three goals in a game.
Pfeiffer outshot the Bobcats 24-6 and held a 27-10 advantage in ground balls. The Falcons also grabbed 13 of 17 draw controls and forced Lees-McRae into 15 turnovers.
Erika Mackenzie (3 g, 1 a) and Kristi Korn (2g, 2a) led all players with four points and MacKenzie Rolland recorded three goals in the blowout. Gracie Herbert added one goal and two assists and Anna Rulapaugh finished with two goals and one assist. In total, eight different players scored a goal for Pfeiffer.
Rachel McCarthy improved to 2-0 on the season as the senior made one save in her 30 minutes of action. Emily James took over in the second half and played the final 25:21 as the final 4:39 was cancelled due to strong weather in the area.
MacKenzie started the game off strong for Pfeiffer as she assisted on the game's first score and then added the Falcons next two goals. After Rolland's final goal of the game with 2:26 left in the first half, Pfeiffer took a 12-0 advantage into the half.
Jacqueline Kennedy's only score of the game pushed the lead to 13 starting the second half and Korn and Chalane Morrison closed out the scoring on the day.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Sunday afternoon in their last home game of the regular season as they host No. 3 Lindenwood at 4:30 p.m.
