Belmont, NC –
The Pfeiffer women's basketball team (8-15, 6-13 Conference Carolinas) fell on the road to Belmont Abbey (10-14, 8-11) on Wednesday night by a final score of 64-52.

Meg Pritchard led all Falcon scorers with 14 points. Ariana Tillman finished with eight points, six rebounds and a game-high three steals. Grayson Harris ended with nine boards and notched three blocks – her fourth performance with three swats or more of the season.

The buckets were dropping early and often for Pfeiffer, which jumped out to a 22-18 lead after the first 10 minutes of action. Pritchard scored 10 of her 14 points in the first quarter and looked to continue the momentum from her 32-point scoring outburst last weekend in a 69-60 win over Converse.

But things took a turn for the worse toward the end of the second quarter when the Crusaders buckled down and exploited a series of Pfeiffer miscues, using a 12-1 run to head into the half with a 33-28 lead. The Falcons were held to just seven points for the frame.

Shooting woes from the second quarter carried on into the third and fourth, as Pfeiffer was limited to 23 second-half points and finished 22-of-74 (29.7 percent) overall from the field on the night. Down by 10 entering the final quarter of play, the Falcons were able to make some noise and contest for a late comeback by trimming the deficit to six with 7:47 remaining, but the Crusaders slammed the door shut by wrapping up the game on a 12-4 run.

Belmont Abbey was led by Taylor Johnson, Taylor Gittings, and Morgan Midkiff, who combined to score 44 of the team's 64 points.

Pfeiffer will return to Misenheimer to host Limestone this Saturday, Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m. inside Merner Gymnasium.
