Men's Volleyball Season Comes to a Close with 3-1 Loss to Erskine

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - The Pfeiffer men's volleyball team (0-19, 0-18 CC) dropped its regular season finale to Erskine (4-20, 4-14) on Senior Day at Merner Gym this afternoon. Playing in his final match, senior Evan Blair had 22 kills and added three assists, five digs and two total blocks.

Blair ends his career as Pfeiffer's all-time leader in solo blocks and is second in total blocks. Blair is also in the top 10 all-time in: hitting percentage, service aces, and sets played.

Fellow senior Corbin Keller also recorded double-digit kills, recording 10 and posting a .217 hitting percentage. Jesse Print added nine kills and Hunter Gray dished out 40 assists. Print led the Falcons with nine digs on the evening.

Pfeiffer came out of the gates hot and took the first set by a score of 25-22. Blair posted six of the team's 12 kills in the opening frame and hit .364. Erskine struggled to a .038 hitting percentage and committed six service errors.

However, Erskine would gain the momentum in the second set and never look back. The Flying Fleet won set two by a final of 25-17. Set three was hotly contested but the visitors pulled out a 26-24 victory and then finished off the game with a 25-18 victory in the fourth and final frame.

The loss brings to a close the 2017 season for Pfeiffer. Prior to the game, the Falcons honored the contributions of its senior class as Blair, Keller, Joe Wilber, Roberto Soares, Dani Siaj and Trent Tursich were all honored.
