TIGERVILLE, N.C. – The Pfeiffer Falcons (0-17, 0-16 CC) fell in three sets to the North Greenville Crusaders (8-16, 7-10 CC) on Tuesday night. Junior Jesse Print paced the Falcons on the evening with seven kills.
Pfeiffer started out set one with a 5-4 lead with a kill by Print and four Crusader errors. The Crusaders took their first lead of the set as they rattled off three consecutive points to go up 7-5. North Greenville was able to extend their lead by five points until Print tallied his second kill. Again consecutive errors by the Crusaders allowed the Falcons to hang around at 13-10.
Grayson Lawerence, Matt McManaway, Alexander Schinzing , Jake Buldog all connected on kills as North Greenville team took the next four of five points and go up 19-13.
Though the Falcons trailed by six points in set one, they continued to fight back. Print connected on this third kill and then Scottie Chambers tallied an ace to close the score to 19-15.
Again with the Falcons down, they found a way to stay in the set and make it close. Print rallied off his fourth kill set and two more Crusader attack errors and made it 23-21.
North Greenville eventually picked up the 25-22 win as McManaway closed out the set with his fourth kill of opening stanza.
The Crusaders cruised through the next two sets as they out hit Pfeiffer .400 to -.211 winning 25-7. In set three, North Greenville won 25-14 as they hit .350 compared to -.158 for the Falcons.
Falcon setter Hunter Gray had a team-high 13 assists while Print and Corbin led the team with five digs each.
Crusader hitter, Ben Hamsho led all players in the evenings match with eight kills. McManaway had seven kills and hitt.500.
The Falcons close out their season at home this weekend with two games. On Friday, they host Emmanuel at 7 p.m. and on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Erskine.
