MISENHEIMER, N. C. – The Pfeiffer Falcons (0-12, 0-11 CC) fell to conference opponent Lees-McRae (6-13, 4-7 CC) on Saturday afternoon, 3-0, inside Merner Gymnasium. Senior Evan Blair led the Falcons with 10 kills and nine digs.
The Bobcats defeated Pfeiffer in set one, 25-18, as they out hit the Falcons with 16 kills to seven. The Falcons hit a respectable .278 but Lees-McRae hit .321. Pfeiffer was within four points at 22-18, but were unable to rally as the Lees-McRae scored the next three to go onto victory.
In set two, the Bobcats hit .464. Wes Rogman and Mark Shayka had five and four hits respectively in the set as Lees-McRae was victorious 25-16.
Set three was Blair's best set as he added six kills on 11 attempts. Pfeiffer took the lead at 13-12 with the help of kills from Blair and Jesse Print. The Bobcats won three consecutive points retook the lead at 16-15 with two kills from Shayka. Pfeiffer continued to hang in the set keep as they kept it tied at 19 when Tyler Harris added his second kill of the match and Blair notched his ninth. The young Falcons squad continued to fight but eventually fell in set 25-20.
Falcon sophomore setter Hunter Gray led his team with 22 assists.
Shayka and Rogman tied for the team-high of 11 kills for the Bobcats.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Tuesday as they host King at 7 p.m. inside Merner Gymnasium.
