MISENHEIMER, NC – The Pfeiffer Falcons (0-11) won their first set of the season but were unable to come away with the match victory on Friday night inside Merner Gymnasium vs. the Southern Virginia Knights (18-5). Evan Blair led the Falcons with his second highest mark of the season with 16 kills and junior Jesse Print had 14.
Pfeiffer was able to come away with a hotly contested first set, 26-24 as Blair had seven kills and hit .667. Southern Virginia's Colby Wilson had four kills to lead the Knights.
After set one, Pfeiffer was unable to find its way in set two as it fell 26-24. Blair was shut down by the Knights' block and was only able to come away with two kills. Print picked up the slack for the Falcons as he connected on six put aways and a .286 hitting percentage.
The Knights again took set three, 26-24, and set four, 25-20. Blair regained his touch with five more kills but SVU hitter Alma Ray matched him with five of his own. Both teams were plagued by service mistakes all evening as Southern Virginia had 17 while Pfeiffer had 19.
