FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Pfeiffer Falcons (0-7, 0-7 CC) still are looking for their first win of the season as they fell to the Emmanuel Lions (4-10, 3-6 CC) in three sets, 25-23, 25-19, 29-27. Senior Evan Blair had his highest kill output of the season with 19 kills.
The Falcons held a two point lead for much of the middle of set one as Jesse Print scored two kills at 10-8 and 11-9. Evan Blair also chipped with a couple of kills to put Pfeiffer up 12-10 and then was to tie it on another at 15-15. Emmanuel pulled away as they scored the next six out of seven points to go up 21-16. With the Falcons down 24-21, Blair notched his fifth kill in set one to make the score 24-22. The Falcons were able to hold off the Lions on three straight set points but were unable to comeback to win set one.
After Emmanuel took set two, Pfeiffer and Emmanuel were matched point for point until Joe Wilber had one of his three kills on the evening to give the Falcons a 13-12 lead. Both teams continued to trade points as Blair again had kills at 15-14, 18-18, 21-21, 25-25 and to keep the Falcons in the set. Pfeiffer was on the verge of winning their first set of the season as they had it tied at 27 all but were unable to keep Emmanuel from taking the next two points and the match.
Pfeiffer returns to action on Saturday night as they travel to Erskine for a 7 p.m. first serve.
