MISENHEIMER, N.C. - Pfeiffer knocked down a program-record 21 3-pointers and recorded the second highest scoring total in Division II this season in a 134-92 thrashing of Lees-McRae inside Merner Gym on Saturday night. A.J. Clark poured in 34 points and was one of seven players to knock down a triple on the evening.
Pfeiffer was on fire in the game, converting on 56.8 percent of their 3-point attempts on the evening. Reserves Sae'Quahn Rogers, Gabe Miller and Xavier Evans combined to go 8-for-9 from long range, while starter Andrew Guerrero went 5-for-6 and added 24 points.
Pfeiffer hit 14 of their 21 triples in the second half and converted at a 66.7 percent clip from downtown in the final 20 minutes.
Pfeiffer came just two points shy of having the highest score in a Division II game this season. Previously, West Liberty scored 135 points in a game. Also, the 21 threes was the second highest single game total in Division II as St. Joseph's (IN) hit 22 earlier in the season.
Clark finished the contest shooting 11-for-17 from the floor and 5-of-9 from behind the arc. At the free throw line, Clark converted all seven of his attempts and added three rebounds and a steal in his 28 minutes of action. With his performance tonight, Clark moves into seventh place all-time in career points at Pfeiffer with 1680.
Guerrero was also extremely efficient for the night, missing just twice and knocking down all seven from the charity stripe. Guerrero added four rebounds, four assists and two steals in the contest.
In total, the Falcons converted on 55.8 percent from the field and hit 77.1 percent of their free throws. Despite playing a face pace style, the Falcons committed just 10 turnovers on the night and wer +9 in turnover margin. Pfeiffer had 23 assists and never trailed in the game.
The Bobcats had no answer for the Falcons and shot just 26.1 percent from long range and knocked down only six from three point land. Jordan Turner came off the bench to lead the team with 21 points and Keegan Crabtree grabbed a game-high seven boards.
With the win, Pfeiffer sweeps the season series from Lees-McRae and grabs their 18th win of the season, which ties the most wins in a season since the 2009-10 campaign.
The Falcons return to action on Wednesday night as they travel to Barton for a big Conference Carolinas matchup. Barton currently sits in second place in the league, just a game ahead of Pfeiffer. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30.
